Conventional wisdom says that the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) can not be perfected and that 70% loss of energy is seen as a given. This lead others to accept a compromise by investigating and developing non-ICE solutions. But at Mazda we always pursue perfection, so we asked ourselves, how can we capture that energy and turn it into driving fun? Instead of looking at complicated external solutions or accepting compromises, we thought more simply and looked at fixing the problem at its source, the cylinder and there we looked for perfect combustion. The result, we improved the efficiency of the ICE, overall the improvement was 30%, delivering fun to drive with better fuel efficiency. All this makes the CX-5 the leading car in its class.
内燃機関を完璧に近づけることは困難で、70% のエネルギーロスは前提と世間では言われています。このため他社は内燃機関以外での解決策に研究/投資をする結果となっています。 しかし Mazda は常に完璧を求め、その失われるエネルギーをどうすれば運転を楽しむことに変えることができるのか自問します。 外部の複雑な解決法を探るのではなく、また妥協案に落ち着くのでもなく、もっとシンプルに考え、根本問題であるシリンダーを見つめ、そこでの完璧な燃焼を探りました。結果、内燃機関の効率が30%も改良され、低燃費とドライブを楽しめることになりました。 CX-5 はクラスのなかでも群を抜いた存在となったのです。
