It was committed immediately to the championship defense of GTU, along with the full model change from SA22C to FC3S in 1985. From 1990, it stepped up in GTS class, which remodeling range was wide, to participate in the races by using the space frame body with the 4-rotar engine mounted, and achieved 100 wins in all, as a single car kind (RX-7). In 1991, the 2nd year since GTO entry, it won the two titles, the driver title and the manufacturer title. IWAYA has modeled #1 (driver : Pete Halsmer) and #63 (driver : Price Cobb), which got the champion in 1992.
